I called the 800 number. The price they gave was, if I remember
correctly, $39 for six bimonthly issues, which seems pretty steep.
The woman who answered did not know if there was any trial offer,
or whether you could cancel after one issue if you didn't want to
continue.

Well, I called.
The woman who answered asked "Do you want to order?"
I said "How much does it cost?"
She said "How did you hear of us?"
I said "Usenet".
This prompted a little confusion and explanation, then she answered "$49".
So I ordered, but it got me wondering; I'll bet there's a lower advertised
price out there somewhere. If any of you see it, please post it and you
can save me, and probably others, some money.

Welcome to the world of private journals. This price is actually quite
low for a non-society (IEEE, ACM, etc.) journal. E.g., "Software--Practice
and Experience", published by Wiley, costs $260/year (12 issues per year).

I just called (and subscribed).

The prices given to me were $49 for 1 year/6-issues. If the price is
going up this fast, by next year...

Can someone post the non-800 number for The Journal of
Object-Oriented Programming? One can't call 800 numbers from foreign
countries, even ones with the longest undefended borders in the
world...

anders@suadb.UUCP (Anders Bj|rnerstedt) (05/02/88)

Could someone post a regular mail address for subscriptions to this
journal. It is not always possible to call 800 numbers from overseas.
To avoid redundant replies to this perhaps only the original poster
(the person behind ark@alice.uucp) should reply to the net.
