I recently bought a copy of Smalltalk/V for the mac via APDA and in general I am very pleased with it. However (you new it was coming didn't you) - there appears to be a bug in the code for handling systems with multiple monitors. Perhaps the term bug iss too strong, they have made an assumption which is not well founded. Consider monitors set up as follows : ________________ ___________________ | | |-----------------| <-- Menu bar | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | |______________| |_________________| Pulling up the browser (say) will create a browser the width of the two screens and will place the left side of the browser on the window with the menu bar. See the problem ? The right edge of the browser is lost. Now obviously you can then move the browser but this is not really satisfactory as it happens with all the system windows. There also appears to be a real bug, in the above case when you move the large browser so that it crosses two windows the right hand monitor does not draw the window correctly. The controls and the close box are messed up. The only real fix I have is to resize the window and place it on the monitor with the menu bar. This is by far the best sollution anyway as a browser crossing two monitors is truely a pain in the neck. Does any one know of a fix for this. My system is :- Mac II with 1 colour (right hand) and one greyscale (left) monitor, both Apple supplied and upgraded to 256 shades. 5 Megabytes of memory etc ...
