I think you are being very kind to the film with your understatement. Permit me to flame it a little. <FLAME ON> I saw this film, and was not just disappointed, but outraged by how bad it was. It didn't work as a mystery, because they apparently left the plot with enough holes to accomodate all three endings; thus, there was no use in trying to guess who done it, since the outcome was a random function. The attempt at comedy was the poorest I have seen since Hogan's Heroes. Remember the scene in the previews with the butler running through the hall screaming? That was about the highlight of the humour in this movie. Most jokes were based on people acting crazy. Not funny, just crazy. Take "Murder by Death," and take out all the clever parts, and you end up with "Clue." This movie has been hyped like no movie except Rocky IV. First there were those large posters shaped like an old house with people poking out of it; this appeared in theatres all around here about two months before the film came to town. Then came the hype about the three endings. Then as you go into the theatre, they hand you this little checklist so you can "play along" and try to decide whodunit. Finally, you enter the theatre and are promptly assaulted by idiotic screenplay, a weak plot, and the worst case of comedic overacting I have seen in recent movies. The whole movie appears to be a cheap plug for Parker Brothers. The movie is a major hyped rip-off. Don't waste your money. ----------------------------------------------------------------- Dave Kirby ( ...!ihnp4!akgub!cylixd!dave)
