It actually is quite a common practice.  Thorn EMI almost always has
coming attractions at the end of their films on cassette.  The RAIDERS
OF THE LOST ARK cassette began with an ad for the then upcoming
INDIANA JONES AND THE TEMPLE OF DOOM.  I have been told that the coming
attractions (no pun intended) at the end of porno films are better than
the main film.
