What's the latest news on Smalltalk standardisation efforts? Are there any documents available on the current situation? There's a paper in ECOOP 89 on "The past, present and future of Smalltalk" by Peter Deutsch, pointing out, among other things, the need for stability in the technology base available to application developers. Also, I understand that some manufacturers in the USA are working together on the problem of standardisation. And what do other net-users feel about such standardisation efforts? For example, do we really want to standardise on MVC, or should it be replaced by something superior in a standard version of Smalltalk? I'm sure people have opinions on such matters, and as far as I am aware there has not been much posted to the net directly addressing this issue.
