EAT THIS! Sequel to "Romancing the Stone" (RTS) Compared to RTS, JOTN pales a bit. It has much less action, but more dialouge and character interaction. It's not always clear who is a "good guy" or who is a "bad guy" and some people might fit either category at various times in the movie. Actually, it quite clear who the good guys and bad quys are, but they aren't always so one-dimensional. The good guys aren't all good, and the bad guys aren't all bad. The "gripping", "intense" scenes simply aren't. It's pretty obvious that the heroes aren't going to meet with any real harm, so the scenes become merely entertaining. Many are funny. This is a light entertainment movie, after all, and not a suspense drama. The main stars, Joan Wilder (Kate Turner) and Jack Coulter (Michael Douglas), give their co-stars plenty of room. Danny DeVito has a larger role in this movie, and I thought he did an excellent job with his character. He's quite funny. Other characters are also entertaining, but that would be telling. For an evening of light entertainment, this movie fills the bill. So go see it. You'll be glad you did. (If you're going to see it to be critical, stay at home. You won't enjoy it.) <yum!> I also enjoyed Jewel of the Nile. One very funny scene was the one with the airplane. I got an even bigger laugh when I saw a drive-shaft (complete with universal joint) going to the landing gear of the "plane," as it headed out into the desert.
