Dear smalltalkers,
I would definitely feel better if I could implement a storeOn: for the
recursive kind of objects which represent the most 'valuable' part of
our text-interpretation support software. For instance: HermeneuticUnits
contain sets of PrimaryTexts, which themselves are partitioned in Indi-
cators (textpassages) with attached Codes (concepts) and SecondaryTexts,
everything richly interconnected and imbedded in a HermeneuticSession,
attached to User, Date and Time, Privileges and so on. The inbuilt storeOn
methods reject 'recursive' objects, but this is exactly one of the predo-
minant features of the object paradigma: the direct representation of
the belonging-together of things ?! (or am I not right??)
Has anybody found a general way to handle this (must surely include a kind
of stack for all the objects which are already stored) or a general pro-
cedure to approach this problem ?
Thank you very much in advance -
Thomas
PS.: I am visiting New York City in April and would be very grateful for
any suggestions concerning hotels (not the Ritz!) or things to visit and to
be aware of.
PS2: I would also like to come into contact with people working on tools for
qualitative research in the social sciences. Any hint appreciated. Thanks again
