There seems to be quite some interest for an IB for Smalltalk, so I thought I would follow up my earlier posting with some more info, as well as some basics for those just tuning in. We are developing a new interface builder for Smalltalk, and will begin selling beta copies ~March 30. The Interface Builder runs under Smalltalk-80 v 2.5 on Sun,Mac,IBM, and Dec hardware. The Interface Builder allows the easy construction of Screens and dialogs, as well as easy creation of new composite views, which are made up of more primitive views...(eg, a NeXTSelectionView is made up of three subviews: a SelectionView and two ButtonViews), and these may be treated easily as a unit. Views can be moved or resized interactively, as well as editing their parameters, and running programs may also be edited. The System is also fairly backwards compatible with previous MVC effo rts, and existing MVC code can be encapsulated into new System Views fairly easily. The System also allows the use of various resources, which can be located on BOSS files. We also allow the iporting of foreign resoures (pictures, icons, fonts, and sounds). We are also looking at doing ports to Digitalk Smalltalk/V, and /VPM. We will also be supporting ParcPlace's new Native Windowing System. For more info, please EMAIL me, or call me at 408 425-8544, or leave a msg at 408 476 8464. If EMAILing, please include a valid REPLY-TO address that will get me from the well to you via USENET. (I have had some trouble replying to people on ARPA, BITNET, and to people deep inside corporate local networks)..
