Information from Lotusland: Music for Midnight Express was composed by Giorgio Moroder. It won an Oscar for Best Original Score in 1978 (beating out, among other nominees, John Williams for Superman).

Tangerine Dream also did The Sorcerer. If you want fantastic
soundtracks with more ominous sounds that you could shake a 40 chicken

Tangerine Dream's earliest soundtrack is "Sorcerer". Very creepy, very
effective. They also wrote a soundtrack for "The Soldier", though I'm unsure if
that soundtrack was used. I think that, in addition to "Risky Business", "Thief", and "The Keep", they did some documen-
taries, but I wouldn't swear to it.
