I suppose this has already been debated, but I just returned to the net after a 4 year absence, so I missed all the discussion. Please post replies directly to me. I am beginning prototype development of Z39, a new standard for information retrieval, and pieces of it will reside on pcs, Macs, and UNIX. Is Smalltalk-80 really the only choice? I have been using Smalltalk/V for a few months and like it, but am not sure if it runs on UNIX machines. As a separate question, does anyone have any experience with Smalltalk training classes? this would be to help mainframe programmers get over the shock....I am not looking for those dopey Buzzword Seminars for Managers Who Want To Learn Some New Phrases, but real hands-on stuff to get people going. As usual, I will summarize to the net if sufficient stuff comes my way. thanks, Andy Cohill ----------------------------------------------------- Everyone should learn to program using punched cards first.... -----------------------------------------------------
