Timothy Budd has written a book called "A Little Smalltalk" or something like that. In the book he talks about implementing a version of Smalltalk using C. The source for his version of Smalltalk was posted to the net a while back. I couldn't get it to run and eventually ended up ftp-ing a working version from cs.orst.edu. I'm not sure where on that machine to find the source anymore. NOTE: This version of Smalltalk is NOT Smalltalk-80. It is designed to operate in a tty environment and doesn't give you the nice bit-mapped graphics environment that most Smalltalks do. You do however have the source code to the language, so you can always add your own extensions to do bitblt-ing and other stuff. I am considering the purchase of a Sun 2/120 system (SunOS 3.2 [Berkeley 4.2]) as a platform for running Smalltalk . Does anyone have information on Smalltalk implementations in the PD that would run on this machine?
