[comp.lang.smalltalk] Features of ST V/WIN3

MUHRTH@tubvm.cs.tu-berlin.de (Thomas Muhr) (08/16/90)

What new features will there be with ST V for Windows 3.0? Maybe:
1. Full use of virtual memory with 386 based hardware -> large images?
2. Stand alone executables, so that your customers do not have to pay for:
   a) MS-Windows b) ST v/win c) your product ?
3. A transfer utility to recompose your applications to the new windowing
techniques (as far as possible) ?
4. Network-sharable images and changelogs?
5. Use of sophisticated icons ?
6. Use of all window-fonts (including proportional fonts, attributes etc) ?
7. No problems whith multiple incarnations ?
and:
What will the price be ? (As expensive as ST V/PM ?)
Will there be run-time-licenses ? (As opposed to Windows 3.0)

When will it be delivered?
Thanks a lot

What I heard from Digitalk is that V for Win 3 parallels V/PM. I guess that
means whatever V/PM offers, so will V Win 3.

It is supposed to be avaliable December.
