I'm looking for some information about gnu smalltalk (specifically, the version that runs on Silicon Graphics Irises) - does it come with a full window/mouse interface or is it a command language interface? - how would I get a copy of it? Thanks for help in advance, Larry Bergman

Ive also heard from various people that its not difficult to port to all sorts of hardware so I cant see any bother with it running on an Iris. Classes are entered as files in the standard Smalltalk file out syntax - See Smalltalk 80 Bits of history, Words of Advice.(The green book). You can get a copy from some of the anonymous FTP sites in the US. You'll need a unix machine to decompress it though. If you cant find it, drop me a line. I posted this, rather than E-mailed it because I think that Gnu st is an excellent system - If you havent tried it, try it. I've been using it for about three months now, and I much prefer it to Digitalk, or Mac Smalltalk. Cheers, Rick
