My first *humorous* experience with commercials before a film was
in Philadelphia on Dec. 23. The first leader showed sodas with mounds
of ice and a spray of soda coming up like a fountain from the middle.
Between showing this scene, they showed pounds of buttered popcorn being
spun around in the holding chamber. (Getting hungry? You're supposed
to) Then came chocolate slowly flowing down a ramp. All this is usual
in many theaters. What shocked me was the announcement, "You now have
a chance to go our snack bar while we show commercials and previews."

What a way to support sponsors.
