[comp.lang.smalltalk] Window Version of Smalltalk/V

wangw@ul.ie (11/12/90)

Digitalk's Smalltalk V for Window 3.0 is abailable now. Noted as a beta version
which is a prerelease version for running under window 3.0, it is much similiar
as Smalltalk V/PM. They are almost compatiable except for a few things like
cordinator system. The major drawback of this version is the text pane can
only hold 14k bytes. This brings problem for those who want to transfer from
V/286 or V/PM to V/Win, because it is difficult to file in large classes.
Currently it can only run under 386 machine. But all these things are expected
to be solved in the next release that is a few weeks away.

So what is the expected "street" price for this version? Will it support
stand alone Windows exe files? Or does it just interpret?

Any other details would be appreciated.
