Notes on IBM and Smalltalk/V 286 As reported in the trade press, IBM has announced a licensing agreement with Digitalk for Smalltalk, and Smalltalk tools. As project manager for object-oriented requirements analysis for a mainframe IBM user's group (GUIDE International) I come into contact with numerous IBMers. IBM is using Smalltalk heavily in its PM application development efforts, in particular at its Cary Labs. IBM's AD/Cycle effort is using Smalltalk for many of its PC based front-ends. IBM is extremely interested in using Smalltalk for its development. None of the IBMers I have talked to even mention C or C++ for AD/Cycle tool development. Also, I do not believe that Office Vision is using Smalltalk. At least not the Office Vision product for the VM operating system. If you have any other good IBM rumors, keep us posted. What kind of tools are people using with Smalltalk V/PM for multi-person projects? I mean tools for version control and "merge" of development. -- Marco Papa -- -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= "Xerox sues somebody for copying?" -- David Letterman -=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=
