XXX When we were at the university, it was in grand fashion to say "Well, season tickets for the cinema are on sale; should we put up with yet another season of depressing foreign films?" We didn't use the term "yet another" ad nauseum, but I thought I'd throw that in for the benefit of the kind reader. This was a fun, low budget film, a little bit "artsy." There are really only two characters, an overweight woman who works at a morgue and the man she seduces, a bored younger man, her "Sugarbaby." The film is not explicit, but there is a large emphasis on how the two, one submissive, one seeking, learn to please one another. Back to the camera work; there is a lot of use of color filters to take away all colors but one in favor of letting the one color dominate in order to let the color express the emotion of a character when that character is having strong emotional feelings. Similarly, the camera is tilted at points when the people's heads are a little twisted. And there's this one technique where the camera swings back and forth as if on a pendulum, to the beat of music as the motorcycle changes lanes. I guess there is something very exciting about romping around in traffic on a scooter. I wouldn't know.
