[comp.lang.smalltalk] expert system shells in Smalltalk

oryan@dip.eecs.umich.edu (Cahan O'Ryan) (02/17/91)

There is another expert system shell accessible
from Smalltalk. This is NEXPERT OBJECT from
Neuron Data. This is an object-oriented
expert system shell written in C. There is
an excellent development environment (separate
from Smalltalk that includes rule and object
browsers, etc.). The knowledge bases created
can then be run with a variety of front-end
interfaces available, including Smalltalk.
The Smalltalk bridge is a separate product
from:

Arbor Intelligent Systems, Inc.
506 N. State St.
Ann Arbor, MI 48104
(313) 996-4238.

I happen to work for Arbor and am the author
of the Smalltalk bridge to NEXPERT. It
is currently available for Objectworks\Smalltalk.
NEXPERT is both forward and backward chaining,
and in general is very full-featured, but is
not cheap.
