Well, the 2nd ISA (International Smalltalk Association) newsletter is on it's way out the door. If you still haven't recieved the first newsletter (and asked to receive it before 1/20/91) - or would like to recieve the newsletter, please drop me a line with your surface mail address and I'll correct whatever is wrong. Here are the concepts that will be embodied in the ISA bylaws: General o The association will always be bound by applicable laws. o The international level is primarily concerned with organizing the regional groups, providing services for the regional groups, and coordinating data back from the regional groups. o Minutes of the International meetings shall be distributed to all members. o ISA should not be affiliated with anyone, but could become so. o The international level has the right to review the regional charters and revoke ISA sponsorship. Membership o That ISA does have dues, currently they are $0.00. o Membership is open to individuals, not corporations. o Membership in the Association does not preclude members from being affiliated with other organizations. o We need a specific mechanism for declaring membership. o Regional members are also international members. Officers o Officers consist of President, Vice President, Secretary, and Treasurer. o In the absence of the president the order is as specified above. o President conducts meetings, and is the chairman of the executive committee. o Nominations will be open to anyone, including self nomination. o Officers shall be elected annually. o Vacant offices shall be appointed by the executive committee and keep that office until the next election. o Officers have the right to vote, and all other normal membership privileges. o Any Officer or chairman can be removed from office by the executive committee for failing to show up at meetings. o Officers are members of the executive committee.
