[comp.lang.smalltalk] Novice Question - Manchester Arch

sticklen@pleiades.cps.msu.edu (03/04/91)

I have successfully gotten the goodies server at Manchester to send me some
files (grapher in particular) which are slit up because they are too big. The
grapher files come from the archive server with extensions as follows...

grapher part xaa
grapher part xaa
grapher part xab
grapher part xab
grapher part xac

where there is a duplicate, (eg the two xaa's) there is one that will say
(continuation) at the beginning of the mail message body.

i have concatenated these on my MAC using a plain text editor, made one large
file. but when i try to file that into my image of ParcPlace ST 80 version 4.0,
i get syntax errors.

i have successfully gotten and loaded a mancester goodie that was small enough
for a single mail message (namely EntryForm), so i suspect that i am doing
something wrong in the concating of the fragments.

in the header of the goodie, there is some unix mumbo jumbo, but unfortunately,
no mac instructions.

i am running on a MacIIci, under MacOS finder 6.1.5 and system 6.0.5.

any suggestions? and is there an email address at manchester to help novices
get started?

thanks,
