In looking around Parc Place Systems Objectworks for Smalltalk 2.5, I have come across several classes which are specified to be special types of subclasses. For example: ArrayedCollection variableSubclass: #Array IntegerArray variableByteSubclass: #ByteArray In version 2.3 another subclass type existed called variableWordSubclass:, but it seems to be gone in version 2.5. Does anyone out there know what the difference is between subclass: and variableSubclass: ? I have searched in the Parc Place documentation, the blue book, and both volumes of Inside Smalltalk, but haven't found any references to these. Thanks for any info. -- Julian J.
