[comp.lang.smalltalk] DOS Smalltalk versions

goer@quads.uchicago.edu (Richard L. Goerwitz) (04/21/91)

I'm almost exclusively a UNIX person, but I have a son who is learning
to program on a PC. The I/O there is simple in languages that support
it. He's beginning to push the limits of GW-BASIC (no snickers), and
I've been told Smalltalk might be a good next step for him. If anyone
out in netland has used PC Smalltalk implementations, could he or she
perhaps comment on which might be simple enough for a kid, but which
would permit sophisticated enough graphics to keep his attention (it's
the graphics that he likes best).

Incidentally, I've already had one recommendation for Digitalk (or what-
ever it is - I'm not a Smalltalk programmer).
