If you had any interest in the recent discussion of Lisp environments, check out the latest issue of IEEE Computer, which has some outstanding articles on programming environments. Coverage of Lisp systems is rather light; they are classified as "language-centered" environments and not much discussed. (Exercise for the reader: decide whether this is because of biased attitudes or because the non-Lisp environments are more sophisticated/interesting.) The language-oriented issues are to some extent shunted off to the IEEE software companion issue which has a fine paper on Genera, the symbolics environment.
