Has anyone out there run into any problems running KCL under Sun OS4.0, (hardware Sun3/***)? I seem to recall seeing some alerts in the dim past before I realized I might need it someday. I'd like to hear about any problems which I can expect to confront with this. Please send replies to randy@poincare.geom.umn.edu, or if that doesn't work, to randy@umn-cs.cs.umn.edu (or umn-cs.uucp). Thanks!!!!! -randy

I've been trying to install KCL under just the configuration mentioned in the base note, and have been experiencing core dumps during installation. Are there known fixes?

I have also been installing KCL on a Sun 3/60 running Sun OS 4.0. The configuration proceeds fine, up until running raw_kcl. While loading "../cmpnew/cmpmain.lsp" defining the function "compile-file1" during a call to "string_eq" (called from "intern") a segmentation fault occurs. I am currently tracking this down, but have other "software" to worry about too, so if anyone has debugged this thing further than I have please send along your suggestions. Thanks. In the event I finish this over the weekend, I'll post the results next week. eric

I am currently tracking this down, I've already done this on a SUN 3/160 running Sun OS 4.0. The bottom line was that I discovered a bug in the SUN compiler/assembler and ended up using Gnu C compiler instead. More recently SUN provided me with a work around which involves some strange options to cc. I haven't bothered to test this out though. Check out the archives for the KCL mailing list for specific details. I think they can be found either on cli.com or rascal.ics.utexas.edu. As a last resort mail me, but I'm going to be very busy for a few weeks and may not be able to respond for a while.
