Digital announced this month a new VAX Workstation 3100 running Ultrix that delivers 10-12 MIPS. Does anyone know what LISPs run on it or will run on it and when? Please respond to KAPLAN@vuvaxcom.bitnet. Thanks in advance.

The DECStation 3100 is based on the MIPS processor. Porting a native code Common LISP compiler is a major task, and recognizing this fact Synthesis Software Solutions, Inc., which is the software consortium for the MIPS processor, has funded Franz Inc. to port Allegro CL to the MIPS processor. This work is almost complete for the Silicon Graphics 4D and the MIPS M Series computers. At the completion of these ports, Franz Inc. will release on the DECStation 3100 after hacking the port to handle the "reversed" byte order (with respect to the rest of the current MIPS workstation offerings) on the 3100. Please contact Franz Inc. for more specific information (info%franz.uucp@Berkeley.EDU). Kevin Layer

( The following is being posted at the request of Richard Weyhrauch of IBUKI; IBUKI reads comp.lang.lisp but currently is not set up to post to it. dcp ) IBUKI Common Lisp has been available on the SGI4D and the MIPS M Series computers for more than 6 months. It is available on the DECstation 3100 NOW. Why wait for your Lisp needs. Contact IBUKI for specific information. [[ ps IBUKI does not in general post advertisments to this list. We felt that FRANZ has overstepped this line and you should consider this message "information" ]] -- Dave Platt FIDONET: Dave Platt on 1:204/444 VOICE: (415) 493-8805 UUCP: ...!{ames,sun,uunet}!coherent!dplatt DOMAIN: dplatt@coherent.com INTERNET: coherent!dplatt@ames.arpa, ...@sun.com, ...@uunet.uu.net USNAIL: Coherent Thought Inc. 3350 West Bayshore #205 Palo Alto CA 94303

In response to your inquiry about the availability of Lisp on the VAX Workstation 3100, we would like to advise you that Lucid has announced its plans to port Lucid Common Lisp to this machine. The port is underway and the product will be available later this year. For more information, please contact Mike Sayer at Lucid, (415) 329-8400.
