[net.movies] BRAZIL: SPOILER, mais oui!

Ok, now I know there have been previous postings about the movie, but
I didn't read them since I hadn't seen the movie. And they have already
been purged by our system. So:

What all symbolism did everyone notice. What was the major symbols
and how do you interpret? The rock creature pulling at Sam's legs,
is an obvious one. Also, his hero Tuttle, being consumed by the paper.
And if you remember, that's why Tuttle became a renegade!! He hated the
paperwork.

The ending: I am wishy-washy, I thought it was happy and tragic. Happy
from Sam's point of view, cuz he will live out his life in happiness.
(We're all in it together.) But, also, tragic cuz he will live out
his life a madman. Opinions?

Slogans: I remember the Happiness one, but there were tons of others
Anyone compiling a list? Mail them to me and I will compile and post.

The nature of the movie: Some have said this is a parody/satire of 1984.
I feel this is very untrue. It made its own points and set up its
own feelings in the viewer. I thought the movie was an excellent one.
Definately +4 on the -4 to +4 scale everyone seems to use. But, as one
person pointed out, I would not send my mother to it.
Also, someone brought up the idea that the terrorists were in fact the
gov't. I never even thought about this? I don't think it likely though,
I don't know why. I think there was genuine dissatisfaction among the
populace. DeNiro being a prime example.

That's my opinion. What's yours? I'd like to know...

PS: Anyone happen to notice what computer system they were all using?
From the looks of it, it had to be a Honeywell. ;-)
