[comp.lang.lisp] Lucid CL

kuenkler@uklirb.UUCP (Andreas Kuenkler AG Wippermann) (01/10/90)

Maybe a dull question:

Why is the value of most-positive-fixnum = 536870911 = 2^29-1
in Lucid CL on Apollo Domain DN3000 workstations instead of being 2^31-1?

Are the two missing bits used for cdr-coding?

The other bits are used for tags. (Lower two bits) As far as I know, Lucid
doesn't do cdr-coding.
