Maybe a dull question: Why is the value of most-positive-fixnum = 536870911 = 2^29-1 in Lucid CL on Apollo Domain DN3000 workstations instead of being 2^31-1? Are the two missing bits used for cdr-coding? Andreas Kuenkler University of Kaiserslautern FRG kuenkler@uklirb.informatik.uni-kl.de or kuenkler@uklirb.uucp

The other bits are used for tags. (Lower two bits) As far as I know, Lucid doesn't do cdr-coding. -- Douglas S. Rand Internet: dsr@mbunix.mitre.org Snail: MITRE, Burlington Road, Bedford, MA
