> In a later scene, she > is asked what she is studying and she replies, "Primitive cultures," > which has to be a reference to "Schlock". > Skip Williams Skip, this is a remarkable and fascinating list, and I thank you for sharing it with us, but you are dead wrong about the "primitive cultures" line in _Animal_House_. When the date says that line, they are in the black bar, and directly after the line, the camera cuts to Otis Day doing his "Boogaloo" on stage and the backups swaying in a quite Sixties Soul sort of way. I have never had any doubt that the line was one of the slew of racist/sexist/etc. jibes the film, hilarious and a classic though it may be, is condemnable for. But gee; I didn't even know Landis had done so many films that I like. _American_Werewolf_In_London, especially, is one of my favorite horror flicks of all time. Interesting. But why the connection between Landis and "See you next Wednesday?" Did he have anything to do with 2001, or has he merely appropriated the line as his own personal fetish? _ Michael Krantz "Springsteen, literature and thou..."
