I need some advice to decide on a common lisp compiler. We narrowed the choice to two: Lucid Common Lisp and Allegro Common Lisp. The software will be installed on a DECstation 3100, and our cost will be pretty much the same for both of these products. I heard that Lucid CL is a lot larger than Allegro CL, but it is faster. Is this true? What other advantages (and disadvantages) do each have? Is the Allegro's development environment Composer useful? Is there a similar environment for Lucid CL? I would appreciate it, if some of you (especially those of you who have tried both) can answer some of these questions?
