I am currently trying to evaluate Kyoto Common Lisp (kcl) which I am running under X windows (on a Sun). I am interested in seeing if running it in a window affects its performance. I've just finished running the Gabriel benchmarks on it and was wondering how to interpret the results. Is there some reference manual to help me understand what the different benchmarks measure? And if so where can I get a copy? Also, does anyone have Gabriel benchmarks for any other machines and/or implementations of Common Lisp? I would be interested in comparing them to my results. I would also be willing to share my results with anyone who is interested. Please email responses to me (I'll summarize here if there is a need). Thanks... This question seems to come up every month or two in this newsgroup. There is a copy of the Gabriel benchmarks in Common Lisp available for anonymous FTP from host cs.utah.edu (128.110.4.21), in file ~ftp/pub/gabriel.tar.Z. It's in compressed tar format. I believe this was also posted to comp.sources.misc some time ago, so you might also check out the archive sites for that newsgroup. -Sandra Loosemore (sandra@cs.utah.edu)

I remember having seen a ftp site to get the Gabriel benchmarks but I forgot the name. Could somebody give me a hint? I'm especially interested in Sun / Franz Luzid results. Thanks in advance, Alex

Are the Gabriel benchmark programs available anywhere on the net? -Brian Murphy brm@cs.stanford.edu
