[comp.lang.lisp] Common-Lisp based database packages

mdb@zero.arc.ab.ca (Mark Brinsmead) (05/03/91)

Is anybody aware of database systems available in Lucid (Sun)
Common Lisp. I am interested in both free and commercial software
but, since reliability is a *big* issue, lean towards commercial.

The SUN Catalyst catalogue was of minimal use, so any suggestions
would be appreciated!

There were rumors last year that a group at BBN was porting Symbolics's
Statice to Sun CL. I haven't heard anything more about it.

Itasca markets a CL OODB for the Sun called ORION. ORION was
originally a research project at MCC. The article

"Architecture of the ORION Next-Generation Database System", IEEE
Transactions on Knowledge and Data Engineering, Vol. 2, No. 1, March
1990.

describes a few versions of ORION. You can contact Itasca at (612)
851-3153. We are currently waiting for information from these people.
