I read a portion of a book while travelling abroad. The title had something in it about "Chronicles of Canopus Argus". It was something about a planet (Strikingly like Earth) Full of myriad variety of life forms and resounding with all kinds of vibrations that assaulted the senses of creatures from a more Quiet dimension, and about this Messiah like creature who had come in from a different dimension to do some sort of mission. Unfortunately, the book belonged to somebody else, and they got off the train, and I am left with nothing more than a tantalizing memory. Does someone know what the name and author of this work might be, or give me clues to how I can Find out. I thank you. Prem Devanbu ( ...eiss!pd)

The book you referred to is "Re: Colonized Planet 5, Shikasta" by Doris Lessing. It is one of a series of novels collectively called "Canopus in Argos: Archives." The second book in the series is "The Marriages Between Zones Three, Four, and Five," and the third book is "The Sirian Experiments." Definitely worthwhile reading. --Scott Stevens inuxd!stevens
