The Robbie Robot movie you mention is "Forbidden Planet", c. 1955, starring Walter Pidgeon (sp?) among others. I saw it "live" as a kid and have seen it at least twice on TV. I consider "FP" one of the best SF flicks ever made, by any criterion (photography, special effects, acting, and PLOT). Especially the plot, which explores the human subconscious mind and its implications for a society that built the ultimate machine -- one that read people's minds and did what they [thought they] wanted. Oops, mustn't spoil! Yes, it involves a starship (saucer-shaped) sent to a planet to find what happened to the first exploratory mission, of whose crew Pidgeon & his lovely daughter are the only survivors. For all your sakes, I hope it keeps appearing on TV -- must see. mike knudsen ihnss!knudsen
