I appreciate the several replies to my original posting. I've gotten a copy of Wiener & Pinson's book "An Introduction to Object Oriented Programming and C++", which turns out to be quite readable. I don't usually have that much trouble reading technical books ( I learned C from K&R with no great difficulty), but I have heard several people claim to have been unable to read Stroustrup's book, and the book appeared to me to start off using a great many things which hadn't really been defined anywhere. Then again, I probably wouldn't be interested in a programming language designed by Leon Uris or William Shakespeare..... Ted Holden HTE
