I was somewhat unclear about the following note to info-g++: >There are two small patches you may wish to make to files which are >now under GNU CC jurisdiction. The first change is necessary if you >don't want the compiler to crash unexpectedly. The second yields >greater optimization. In the file emit-rtl.c: Should these patches be applied directly to the GCC 1.21 source (thus affecting the GCC distribution) or only to the G++ source (i.e., by copying the files into the g++ directory?
