[comp.lang.c++] Gnu g++, etc., wanted

jnh@ece-csc.UUCP (Joseph Nathan Hall) (07/21/88)

Please excuse my ignorance (I'll be brief). I would like to get a c++
compiler (or an ersatz c++ compiler) running on a Macintosh ... but I don't
know whether this is possible. I suppose there are two approaches:

	1) Get a native-mode compiler

	and 2) Use a c++ to c translator, and use an ordinary c compiler
	on the Mac.

I prefer option 2). I'd also like source code.

Would someone feeling helpful please send me info on how to get AT&T c++ (if
possible, how much it costs) and GNU g++. Also, does GNU g++ (or something
similar--and free) have an option to translate c++ source to c?

I would prefer MOST OF ALL to have the source code for the c++ to c translator
so that I could port it to the Mac (or maybe someone has already done this).

Help ... ! ... sorry if I sound confused; normally I'm more useful.
