Summarized from PC Week, September 18, 1989, pg. 61. Article by Paul M. Sherer. The ANSI X.3 committe, with AT&Ts blessing, is now determining if it should begin work on a C++ standard. The standards committee has asked Stroustrup to participate, and is said to be starting from 2.0 as a base. "'The features in 2.0 will most likely not change, but there are additional features that the community want that will probably be added,' according to Dmitry Lenkov, author of the standarization proposal...Lenkov and Stroustrup both cited exception handling and parameterized types as two likely additions."
