[comp.lang.c++] ANSI/POSIX C++ Compilers

sean@luna.dpl.scg.hac.com (Sean Cohan) (09/08/90)

We're trying to select a C++ compiler to use for development. We`re looking
at either GNU's or AT&T. We want one that, in the future, is expected to be
closer to an accepted standard, such as ANSI or POSIX.

Does anyone have any info?

Thanks in advance.

The ANSI C++ committee (X3J16) has just recently been constituted, and is
not expected to submit a first draft for review for at least a year,
probably more.

The base document for the standard is the Annotated C++ Reference Manual
by Margaret Ellis and Bjarne Stroustrup (derived from the AT&T C++ 2.1
reference manual).
