Our lab group is beginning a significant rewrite of our software which we use to control several pieces of mechanical hardware and to acquire data in real time. We are planning to use C++ on a '386 platform; we have two independent computers (ie, not connected except by sneaker-net) and three or four people who will be doing the software development. I would like to know if anyone has any experience writing C++ in a group and, if so, have you used any version control software? What packages exist and what are their strengths and weaknesses? Do the packages designed for C (e.g., Poly VCS) work with C++ code? Any comments would be much appreciated. If you Email your comments to me, I will post a summary later. Thanks in advance, Tony Hodgson ahodgson@hstbme.mit.edu
