[comp.lang.c++] NIHCL 3.0 on System V.3 -- Has anybody done this???

mdv@.domain.com (Mike Verstegen) (10/02/90)

Has anyone ported the NIH Class Library to a System V Release 3 machine?

I ftp'd pub/nihcl.tar.Z from alw.nih.gov this weekend and tried to compile
them on our 3B2/600. I hacked my way through installing the error facility,
but I'm having more problems with the library itself. nihclconfig.h appears
only to have been tested with the Sun/BSD derived systems, and the System V
conversion is left as an execise to the user.

Before I spend a lot of time making this work, I was wondering...
  1) did I pick up the latest version?
  2) are there any patches (either generic or System V specific) that I should
     get before I continue?
  3) has anybody been down this path before?
  4) can someone descirbe the difference between "patch" and "munch" and which
     one should be used where?

Specifics: AT&T 3B2/600, V.3.1.1, AT&T C CPLU4.2, Comeau port of cfront 2.0
NIHCL 3.0 (based on RCS info, no patchlevel found)

Thanks for you assistance.

Mike
