I think I read a short story quite awhile back which involved
the telephone network itself "taking over". It began with people
receiving calls with no one on the other end. Then the phones
began to learn to talk by mimicing the people (who thought these
were just prank calls by kids). I cannot remember either author
or title of this story. If this sounds familiar at all to anyone,
