I am looking for an FTP archive site for comp.lang.c++. The reason I ask is that, in my spare time, I'm going to create a sort of "Usenet Guide to C++" based on articles posted to comp.lang.c++. It will be freely distributable and I will get permission from every author used before distribution. I plan on formatting the Q&A's relative to the ARM sections they apply to. There will also be a section on coding examples. It is hoped that this guide will enhance better understanding of C++ and help to clarify sections of the ARM by many of the people who have been cited in the ARM Preface as contributing to C++'s success with their ideas and suggestions. If you do not know of an archive site for comp.lang.c++ then perhaps you can e-mail me some of your favorite threads of comp.lang.c++ discussions that have helped you in a crunch. I will guarantee that anyone who e-mails me a thread will get a copy of the finished results (I can't give you a definite date right now but certainly less than a year). Please do not send vendor specific C++ threads unless they help to show different ways of interpreting the ARM (i.e. ambiguities or system dependent concerns). The success of this "guide" relies on me being able to find enough past articles from FTP sites to even build it. If I'm unsuccessful at this then I guess I will need to wait until I have collected enough articles from the present on. This would be a pity because I remember some wonderful dis- cussions just this past year that will probably never be repeated in such detail by as many experts again. Thanks for helping me out in my quest! ----------------------------- Steve Hite ...gatech!uflorida!unf7!shite
