I am looking at using the C++ task system in the implementation of a message processing system. What I would like is some feedback from people who have used this library in an extensive manner. In particular, the pitfalls that you encountered, the design constraints that you discovered, the things that worked well and the things that didn't. I have read the Stroustrup and Shapiro paper on the classes and the Shapiro paper on the real time extensions. If anyone has any further documentation that may be of use to me, could you please FAX (613) 267 4692 or email (amanda@mlacus.oz) me ASAP. If people feel that this is worth discussing, I suggest the discussion should be conducted in comp.lang.c++, so we can get some wider feedback than Oz alone. Thanks. -- ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- Amanda Moore (amanda@mlacus.oz) ACUS Tel: +61(3)823-1033 Fax: +61(3)267-4692 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I was rudely surprised to find that MPW C++ on the Mac does not implement the C++ task library. (They do include the documentation for it, it just isn't implemented). Has anyone implemented this library? If not, is there another version of C++ available for the Mac that does implement it? It is needed *urgently* for a virtual reality project.
