[comp.lang.c++] NIH in realtime and online systems.

Has anyone used NIHCL in realtime or online system applications?
I'm reading thru the NIH source (very slowly) and going thru the
book DATA ABSTRACTION AND OBJECT ORIENTED PROGRAMMING IN C++.
So far (from my *very* little study) I see a few member functions
that one may want to avoid when speed is the concern, but other
member functions seem reasonable enough. What is the experience
and/or wisdom of others out there? Are there some member functions
to avoid, whole classes to avoid?

Thanks,
