Thanx to Jerry Leichter for the article on Zelazny's genesis; he's long been one of my favorite sci-fi authors, although his writing quality is quite variable. For those who haven't read any Zelazny (or only his later stuff), I heartily recommend LORD OF LIGHT and ISLE OF THE DEAD, both having an interesting pantheon of Gods motif.
