[comp.lang.c++] Single version of Postfix and Prefix operators

If I provide only a postfix operator(prefix operator) for a class and then
if I try to use the prefix(postfix) operator on an object of that class
should the compiler give a warning or is it an ERROR? 

Is there any reference to this in the ARM. I know the ARM explains about
writing both prefix and postfix versions of an operator.
