[comp.lang.c++] Quality software

/At LOOK '91 in Denmark recently I listened to Steven Weiss, and he pointed
/out that "A quality system is a system that is easy to maintain".

Just a minor nit, maintainability is only a secondary issue. The first issue
is whether or not the software is useful (in other words, is a customer
willing to pay for it). If the software is not useful, it will never get
far enough to need to be maintained!

I.e. if the first version of your software doesn't sell, you will never be
called upon to maintain it.
