Firstly, the latest (apr ?) issue of New Scientist in the Monitor section (I think) says that the Norwegians are starting to test a Leprosy vaccine. There is currently one major drug for treatment of Leprosy (I forget the name but the article mentions it), however there has been greatly increased resistance to the drug lately, so there is some concern about future treatment methods. (This seems to imply that Leprosy is a bacteria not a virus?) The matter of the disease remaining dormant seems unclear, but one thing is well accepted, that the incubation period of the disease if very long, approx 5 yrs, or maybe 5-10 years. If anyone is interested I look up the articles and clarify the above comments. uiucdcs!akhtar
