From: Steven Gutfreund <gutfreund.umass-cs@UDel-Relay> I think Lucas got what he finally wanted in terms of visual impact. The visuals from ILM and Lucasfilm were really impressive. There was a great deal of care done in adding dolly shots, and taking good advantage of screen layout. Also the matte prints were the best I have seen. Still, A film is more than just a visual experience. Space opera plots are not known for complexity, still, George has usually been able to keep things smooth and keep ones attention high. This time there were some real slow and boring spots. Even worse, I think most of the boring spots were related to the points where the SF-Lovers and other fans blathering the most: 1) who is the other?, 2) why did Obi-wan lie about Luke's father? Do you remember these scenes in the film? weren't they tediously drawn out? opinions? - Steven Gutfreund
