Tim likes partying as himself, not as someone else. Well, my SCA 'character' WAS me, with a different name. I emphasized my 'mediaeval' interests (music, art, heraldry) more than my '20th century' ones (computers, SF, computers, automobiles, ...) and essentially remained myself. There was remarkably little pressure to create a whole, well-defined mediaeval person. I have been given to understand that the East Kingdom is less 'laid-back' about the whole thing, too, but that's hearsay.
